Meet Our Wellness Ambassadors
Mission
|
Ana Sofia Aldrett
My name is Sofia and I´m a second-year student majoring in Chemical Engineering. I plan on working in an environmental-related field since that is my passion. My goal as a Wellness Ambassador is to encourage students to ask for help when they need it and spread awareness that it is okay to do so. I hope to help build a stronger community for students to feel welcomed and supported. I hope to gain more knowledge about mental health and spread the knowledge I already have as an ambassador, but also to be a resource for other students that want help. In my free time, I like to exercise, go on walks, read, meet new people, and travel.
Martha Burcea
Hi everyone, I’m Martha, and I joined the wonderful Wellness Ambassadors team this fall. I moved to the USA in February and have been studying at 17³Ô¹Ï since April, working towards a biology degree to help me become a dentist. I’m very grateful to the Active Mind Club because, thanks to its members, I’ve been able to integrate into a new society, overcome the language barrier more easily, make friends, and reaffirm my passion for helping others. Coming from a country where mental health is still not a priority, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to learn so much about this field. I love traveling and discovering new things, I enjoy music, I’m fascinated by the human body, and I’m eager to make a difference in the way we care for people.
Vivian Lai
Hi, my name is Vivian. I am a second year student majoring in Psychology. My journey
has been marked by resilience in the face of adversity, overcoming the challenges
of racism, cultural barriers, and ageism. I am learning to embrace the opportunity
to defy stereotypes and dismantle discriminatory narratives, and to cultivate an appreciation
for diversity and a commitment to bridging understanding. My goal is to help others
facing similar struggles, fostering a community that thrives on inclusivity and celebrates
the strength that arises from overcoming adversity. Besides being an active officer
at the Psychology Club and Active Minds Club, you can find me working at the Learning
and Writing Center. I love traveling and trying different ethnic foods.
Michelle Thi
Hi everyone! This is Ye Thi but I go by Michelle too so it's easier and less hassle.
I am a third-year student here at 17³Ô¹Ï majoring in Public Health Science and doing
my prerequisites for Dental Hygiene Program. As an international student, I know how
crucial an individual's wellbeing is, especially when we all are away from home. When
I first moved here two years ago, I was welcomed with heaps of love and warmth from
my peers and professors here at 17³Ô¹Ï and I really want to spread this love and
kindness as a wellness student ambassador. I enjoy exploring new places, eating out,
doing Pilates and going to music festivals in my free time.
Isha Vyas
Hi, my name is Isha Vyas, and I'm a first-year student majoring in computer science
and engineering. As someone who attended a very academically competitive high school,
there was lots of pressure on my peers and me to be the best without any support.
Even when my peers reached out for some help, they were looked down upon. My goal
as a Wellness Ambassador is to help create an environment that uplifts and supports
everyone on campus. In my free time, I enjoy going on walks, watching Formula 1, and
reading.
