A group of women with different ethnic backgrounds will discuss their experience being a woman with the context of their culture. From their mother's role, to their personal experiences, to the changes they would like to see in the future - these women will bring a wealth of insight into what it's like being a woman in different cultures. Dr. Katherine R. Jolluck is Senior Lecturer in Modern East European History at Stanford University. With over 30 years of experience in the history of twentieth-century Eastern Europe and Russia, Dr. Jolluck's expertise includes topics of women and war, women in communist societies, second world war, and human trafficking. Her books include: Exile and Identity: Polish Women in the Soviet Union during WWII, and Gulag Voices: Oral Histories of Soviet Incarceration and Exile (with Jehanne M Gheith).
