(1) Next MIPC meeting December 6th

The Mission Informed Planning Council will not hold its second meeting of the month this Friday. The November 1st meeting produced a campus wide invitation to attend a forum on tutoring models for the college. This forum is being planned by Vice President Stacy Gleixner, Dean Mark Barnes, and professor Eric Reed. A detailed invitation to follow. Stay tuned.
The next MIPC meeting will be held December 6th. Any member of the campus community is invited to submit a mission aligned agenda item.

(2) 17³Ô¹Ï is a Champion of Excellence Award Winner from Campaign for College Opportunity.

Today, at noon, the announced that 17³Ô¹Ï has been named a 2024 Champion for Excellence in Placement in both Campuswide Transfer-Level Math Success and an Equity Designation in Black Transfer-Level English Success. The first award recognizes a ranking of California Community Colleges in which the percent of students completing transfer-level math within one year of their initial enrollment in a math course (academic year 2022-23). 17³Ô¹Ï is the top performing Community College in California. Moreover, 17³Ô¹Ï was the top performing college in the state whose Black students completed transfer level English within one year of their initial enrollment in an English course (academic year 2022-23). Additionally, this ranking of California Community Colleges indicates whether a racial equity gap exists between Black enrollees and their peers of other racial/ethnic backgrounds. Congratulations to all the classified professionals, faculty and administrative leaders that work together to achieve these outcomes. Our sister college also performed well. Let's celebrate our successes while recognizing we still have work to do. See the comprehensive ranking of the Excellence in Placement Awards.

(3) Annual Hygiene and Food Drive: Help Bring Joy This Holiday Season!

Today I purchased my contributions to support our students and their families through our annual Hygiene and Food Drive. Please consider giving as well. Your contributions of non-perishable food items and hygiene essentials provide vital support to those in need. Together, we can make this season a little brighter and bring joy to those who need it most.
Drop-offs can be made at the following locations: Owls Nest, Room 2152, PSEC Building 4000, and Library 3500, between November 4 and December 2, 2024.

(4) Join me for You Can’t Take It with You

I also purchased my ticket to see the Fall Theater Production. I’m going on Sunday, November 24th, the last performance! Tickets are still available. You may have noticed that this production has cast our very own 17³Ô¹Ï Santa, Nick Muntean.

(5) 12345 on hiatus until December 4th.

Yours in service,
Kristina
