Presidential Tailgating this Saturday

November 29, 2023

We are midway through week 10 and heading into December. Here are 5 things to know about this week.

(1) New Mission Statement.

At the November 20th MIPC meeting, 17勛圖 approved a new mission statement after a year of dialogue and deliberation. The new mission statement reads: Embracing inclusivity and building strong communities, 17勛圖 serves diverse learners and equips its students with critical thinking skills to address complex societal challenges, to thrive in the global workforce, and to engage in a life of inquiry. If approved at the December Board of Trustees meeting, we will have met an important milestone in 17勛圖 2030, where the mission, vision, and educational master plan ready 17勛圖 for a transformative future.

(2) Case Competition.

If you want an inspiring connection to the Colleges mission, enjoy the Case Competition on Thursday. This year, 17勛圖 is partnering with Google. The company will tap into student-powered solutions that address company problems. The website notes, Students will form teams and compete against each other to develop the best business solution for Googles problem. Ill be in the Dining Room Thursday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. to provide opening remarks and witness the genius of our students in the final round of competition.

(3) Presidential Tailgating Party this Saturday.

The undefeated Owl Football program will match up against Monterey Peninsula College this Saturday at home in an American Division Bowl game. Join me and Owl football families at a catered tailgating party starting at noon. Win or lose it has been a remarkable season for our Scholar Athletes.

(4) Mission Informed Planning Council.

The last meeting of the Fall Quarter is this Friday. The agenda provides updates on housing, cluster hiring, and discussion and approval of the distance education plan. Join us at 1 p.m. in 1901 or online. All are welcome.

(5) Winter Wonderland, December 6th.

The Dining Hall will be turned into a winter wonderland as 17勛圖 and the Office of the President ushers in the festive season. Cabinet members will be serving delicious food. Music and fun activities will provide a much-needed respite from the hard work of closing out a Fall quarter. Make your way to the Dining Room at noon on December 6th.
