Our Mission

The mission of the Kinesiology and Athletics Division is to promote healthy living and healthy choices in our diverse student community.

With unwavering dedication and commitment to the intellectual, athletic, and aesthetic expression of the human experience, we provide learning opportunities through a wide variety of challenging classes and physical activities that promote mind-body connections in an open, respectful, interactive environment enriched by creativity, fun, and passion.

About Our Programs

The Kinesiology & Athletics Division provides

  • a broad selection of PE activity classes for all students
  • degrees and career training related to the study of kinesiology, including sports medicine and personal training
  • academic and athletic support for our 300+ Owl student-athletes participating in 13 competitive teams — 8 for women, 5 for men
  • our athletic facilities include an  outdoor stadium with track, olympic-size swimming pool, two gymnasiums,  softball field, soccer field, tennis courts, futsal field, golf putting greens and driving range, and dance studio.
  • quarterly and monthly memberships for access to our Fitness Center and Olympic Pool through our Community Education program.

Pool Temperature

The 17³Ô¹Ï pool is used for lap swimming, instruction, aqua aerobics, and competition. With this in mind, the pool is maintained at a temperature range between 78 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Please see the for more information on recommended temperatures for these activities.

Our faculty, coaches and professional staff provide opportunities for skill, strength, and strategy development while also creating a supportive environment in which student-athletes can build academic habits and time management skills.

While our highly competitive teams are regularly rewarded with post-conference opportunities, 17³Ô¹Ï student-athletes are expected to work hard in the classroom as well.

Our strong transfer success rates show that hard work pays off. There are 17³Ô¹Ï Owls across the state and across the country earning 4-year degrees, competing at the next level, and reaching their goals. We invite you to visit us for a class or event, and share in 17³Ô¹Ï Owl pride!
