Sample Curriculum & Course Descriptions

Summer Session

  • Learning Styles & Strategies: Identification of individual styles, strengths, and strategies for success.
  • Social Skills: Enhancement of self-esteem and socialization skills.
  • Physical Education: Basic fitness training.

Fall Quarter

  • Basic English Skills: Sentence and paragraph structure and practical application.
  • Computer Applications: Introduction to the use of Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
  • Current Events: Increases awareness and knowledge of current events and the various methods of finding updated news.
  • Job Training/Internship: Hands-on job training experiences at 17勛圖.
  • Communication Skills in the Workplace: Develop effective communication in employment and social settings.
  • Creative Self-Expression: Practice of various forms of artistic expression.
  • Physical Education: Basic fitness training.

Winter Quarter

  • Disability and the Law: Discussion of individual rights and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Social Media and Digital Citizenship: How to use social media appropriately and safely.
  • Job Training/Internship: Hands-on job training experiences at 17勛圖.
  • Work Attitudes and Behaviors: Practice the behaviors and attitudes that will lead to success in the workplace.
  • Basic Math Skills: Basic math functions, money handling and practical math uses.
  • Physical Education: Basic fitness training.
  • Creative Self-Expression: Practice of various forms of artistic expression.

Spring Quarter

  • Job Search Skills - The Resume: Resume writing and job application procedures.
  • Interview Preparation: Strengthening interview skills and techniques.
  • Job Training/Internship: Hands-on job training experiences at 17勛圖.
  • Physical Education: Basic fitness training.
  • Healthy Relationships: Development and understanding of personal boundaries and making positive relationship choices.
  • Creative Self-Expression: Practice of various forms of artistic expression.
  • Resources in the Community: Locating and maximizing community support systems.
