To apply for the program at that time, you will need to follow the steps below.

Enroll in PHT 200L: Pharmacy Technician as a Career.

Course Description

This a  1-unit prerequisite course that provides detailed program information, application process and  everything you would like to know about our ACPE/ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program and careers in pharmacy tech.

Summer Quarter 2024: Please register immediately. The CRN# is 10773.

Important Information for PHT 200L Class:  

  • This an "in-person" class
    • 17³Ô¹Ï Main Campus Room 8708
  • Class will meet twice:
    • First class session: Tuesday, July 9, 2024  10:00am to 3:50pm
    • Second-class session: Tuesday, July 16, 2024, 10:00am to 3:50pm
    • **You must be present for BOTH scheduled class sessions.**

If this is your FIRST time taking a class at 17³Ô¹Ï, you must "APPLY FOR ADMISSION" first to receive your CWID (Campus-wide ID) number to register for classes.

Click on the BLUE box "APPLY for Admission" and complete the application form.

After you receive your CWID number, please login to your Portal and register for the SUMMER QUARTER: PHT 200L class. CRN# is 10773.

Please email Angela Su, Program Director at suangela@fhda.edu if you have any questions regarding PHT 200L or have trouble registering for the PHT 200L course.

Complete the online Pharmacy Technology application form. The application form will be available on January 1, 2024

First: Do you have a Student ID (CWID)?

To access the online Pharmacy Technology Application form, you will need your 8-digit Student CWID (Campus-wide ID) to log in to .

  • If you HAVE applied for admission to 17³Ô¹Ï or De Anza College (even if you have never taken classes), you already have a CWID number.
  • If you have NEVER applied for admission to 17³Ô¹Ï or De Anza College, you will need to FIRST complete the FOOTHILL COLLEGE ADMISSION APPLICATION before starting the Pharmacy Technician application process.

Associate in Science Degree

  • NOTE: When viewing this program map, you may select from two pathways — 1. Pharmacy; and 2. Pre-pharmacy.

Certificate of Achievement

Students who complete the program in a satisfactory manner will be awarded a Certificate of Program Completion and are qualified to apply to the California State Board of Pharmacy for registration as a pharmacy technician.

Graduates will also be eligible to take the PTCE (Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam) and become a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

A two-year expanded Pharmacy Technician Program is also available, which includes general education.

This two-year course sequence leads to an Associate in Science Degree in Pharmacy Technician, and offers the student the ability to transfer to a four-year program or to enter the job market with additional technical and theoretical background.

Career Opportunities

As a registered pharmacy technician in California, you can — under the supervision of a registered pharmacist â€” perform routine tasks related to receiving, dispensing, distribution, control, maintenance, compounding, manufacturing, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceutical products.

Typical tasks include:

  • Transcribing physicians orders/prescriptions
  • Preliminary review of new orders/prescriptions
  • Filling prescriptions and medications orders
  • Preparing unit dose and multi-dose forms
  • Preparing and labeling sterile solutions using aseptic technique
  • Data entry and label generation
  • Maintenance of inventory and stock
  • Maintenance of pharmacy work areas
