Financial Aid
Benefits of Being a Full-Time Student
More Units = More Grant Aid
While you don’t have to be a full-time student to receive financial aid, more units does mean more money if you qualify for federal and/or state grants.
See the chart below to see how much more grant money you can get for increasing the number of units you take each quarter.
*Note: The chart shows the quarterly grant amounts for students who have maximum financial need as determined through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or CADAA (California Dream Act Application). Please be aware that individual grant eligibility may vary.
ENROLLMENT | PELL GRANT | CAL GRANT | STUDENT SUCCESS COMPLETION GRANT | TOTAL PER QUARTER |
---|---|---|---|---|
15+ units | $2,465 | $549 | $2,666 | $5,680 |
12-14.9 units | $2,465 | $549 | $865 | $3,879 |
9-11.9units | $1,848 | $412 | $0 | $2,260 |
6-8.9 units | $1,232 | $275 | $0 | $1,507 |
Less than 6 units | $412 | $0 | $0 | $412 |
At less than 6 units, students also lose the opportunity for the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Federal Work-Study and loans. |
