The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is an 18–month program with selective admission. Before applying, please see prerequisites.

Admission Policy
Admission is based on criteria approved by 17³Ô¹Ï and consistent with State and Federal law, regulations, and Program accreditation guidelines. Primary admission criteria include completion of prerequisite courses with a C or better, possessing the minimum GPA prerequisite, and compliance with the technical standards stated in the application.
- The program currently admits a cohort every other year.
- The current cohort began in Fall 2024, with the next cohort starting in Fall 2026.
- The application cycle for the 2026 cohort will open in November 2025 and close in March 2026.
- Please note that the application window is subject to change.
Lottery Selection
Each application cycle, 15 to 20 qualified students are selected from the applicant pool and admitted to the program every other year, with classes beginning in the Fall quarter. The number of students admitted may vary based on the availability of clinical sites.
Wait List
The 17³Ô¹Ï DMS program has a wait list.
Selection Procedure
- Completed electronic applications must be submitted by the application deadline and are reviewed for accuracy by cross-referencing all transcript.
- Applications that meet the admission criteria are entered into a lottery.
- The final selection is made in April every other year, and applicants are notified of their acceptance or non-acceptance via email in the month of May via email.
- If a student withdraws from the program and a seat becomes available, applicants on the waitlist will be contacted, and the seat will be offered to the next applicant on the waitlist.
