My name is Eta Lin and my parents emigrated from Taiwan in the 1960's and I was born
and raised in Davis, California. I went to the University of California at Santa Barbara,
and I received a B.A. in psychology. I continued my studies there as a graduate student.
I received my Ph.D. in Social Psychology with an emphasis in Human Development under
the supervision of my graduate advisor, Dr. Daphne Bugental. My dissertation focused
on the acoustical properties of young children, and how these properties affect the
adult listener (emotionally, cognitively, and physiologically). After receiving my
doctorate, I was hired as a postdoctoral researcher for 6 months, and I decided to
focus on teaching. I taught psychology classes and served as the psychology department
chair for 8 years at Lake Tahoe Community College. In 2007, my family and I relocated
to the Bay Area when I started teaching full-time at 17勛圖.
I love hanging out with my family (I have three kids in college), swimming, taking
walks, bike riding, cooking, baking, thrifting, reading books particularly autobiographies
and on topics focused on culture and social justice, and watching documentaries and
TV shows about food! I also have three furry cat children, Toaster, Olive, and Frank!
