Looking to get back in the biz? That’s what Meri-Beth Bird was looking to do and that’s what led her to 17Թ’s environmental horticulture and design program.

Meri-Beth worked in the landscape architecture for 10 years and took a different track for 15 more. It was when she met the Daniel Svenson, an instructor in 17Թ’s environmental horticulture program that she decided to take a few classes to refresh her skills.

“A few courses turned into three years of taking as many classes as I could,” Meri-Beth said.

After three years, she earned her associate degree.

“My favorite part of this program are the teachers, the students, the knowledge shared, and how much I have learned,” Meri-Beth said. “The speakers and people in the industry that come to visit the classes are really helpful.”

After her experience in the program, Meri-Beth meets with a group of 17Թ classmates monthly to discuss anything related to the landscape business.

“It's great to have these colleagues,” Meri-Beth said.
