Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana (MACLA)

Founded in 1989 as the result of a broad community mobilization in the City of San Jose and nationwide on behalf of multicultural arts, MACLA has evolved into a well-respected arts organization known for our commitment to artistic excellence and civic dialogue. Located in downtown San Jose, more than 30,000 people participate in the 50 programs MACLA produces annually. MACLA is an inclusive contemporary arts space grounded in the Chicano/Latino experience that incubates new visual, literary and performance art in order to engage people in civic dialogue and community transformation. HMS Interns will get hands-on experience in their field of interest while helping to support staff and current projects at MACLA. HMS Interns will get experience in marketing, administrative support, curatorial work, exhibits and programming, and performance and literary arts campaigns, projects, and events.

Opera San Jose

Opera San Jos矇 is a professional, regional opera company founded in 1984. Maintaining a resident company of principal artists, Opera San Jos矇 specializes in showcasing the finest young professional singers in the nation. In addition to mainstage performances, Opera San Jos矇 maintains extensive educational programs in schools and in the community at large, and offers preview lectures and Introduction to Opera talks for all mainstage productions

Opera San Jose is seeking a multi-tasker with excellent communication skills for our K-12outreach program. The Artistic Operations Intern should be able to assist the Artistic Operations and Outreach Manager as well as the Artistic Administrator by handling general office duties, maintaining and creating data bases, customer service, and casting projects.

Theater Works Silicon Valley

TheatreWorks is one of Americas outstanding professional theatres. Our work celebrates the human spirit through innovative productions, new works, and education programs inspired by and engaging our diverse Silicon Valley community.  The TheatreWorks Education Department boasts dynamic in-school and community programming. In-school residencies with teaching artists, student matiness, elementary school touring assemblies, spring and summer camps, work in local hospitals and training of camp staff and teaching artists.

Join us in the implementation and growth of our programming. All roles involve active work and administrative tasks.

Treasure Island History Museum

The Board of Directors of the Treasure Island Museum, in collaboration with the Treasure Island Development Authority, are creating a state of the art museum located in the landmark Building One to tell the stories behind Treasure Islands history. The Board is committed to securing $8 million for this project and the timeline is concurrent with the overall redevelopment of Treasure Island. The museum will be the cornerstone of San Franciscos newest neighborhood Treasure Island.

Los Altos History Museum

Los Altos History Museum LogoLocated south of San Francisco on the Peninsula, operates a museum complex including two main buildings, one a historic 1905 house, the other a modern 3-story museum. We feature three changing history exhibits a year, and have several permanent history exhibits on display. The museum is blessed with a strong and active volunteer network, and programs many lectures, events and special events throughout the year. The annual operating budget of over $400,000 is funded by individual donations, special events, grants, bequests, membership, an active rental events program and gift store. The Los Altos History Museum offers HMS interns the chance to work with collections, prepare and lead tours and exhibits, and develop a new downloadable smart phone local history application, amongst other internship duties.

San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles

Serves to promote and celebrate the art, creators, craft, and history of quilts and textiles. The Museum is the nexus for fiber artists, art lovers, collectors, quilters, and crafters who share a passion for fiber art and a deep commitment to its preservation and evolution. HMS internships with SJ Museum of Quilts and Textiles offer opportunities to work in the collections department by cataloguing objects, learning about preventative conservation, preparing objects for exhibition, and more! Also, HMS interns can work on special projects such as loan agreement inventory, public programs, organizing artist submissions, and exhibit set up.
