THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA

THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONADirected by Amy Gonzalez
Costume Design by Julie Engelbrecht

Shakespeare’s tale of friendship, betrayal and love starts as Valentine leaves his home and his best friend, Proteus, in search of adventure in a far away city. Proteus prefers to remain at home close to his love, Julia, but is soon sent away by his father to follow in Valentine’s footsteps. In the city both friends fall in love with Silvia who, betrothed to yet another suitor. Youthful affection is the main culprit as complications abound and love triangles multiply. Throw a nerdy knight, several outlaws, a girl disguised as a boy and a dog named Crab mix it all together with some 1970's color and perspective and the result is a refreshingly updated version of one of Shakespeare's most endearing romantic comedies.
