Its spring, and divisions should determine who their senators would be for 2007-2008, and to use your established election process. Faculty are still turning in grades with a C-, which are converted to a C, as a grade of C- is not a legal grade assignment. Additionally, A+ counts as an A in 17Թ's GPA. Dolores announced that 23 robes were approved, contact Romeo for more details. FRAMES submit assignments that demonstrate critical thinking. Faculty may have been randomly selected to participate in this program. Consent calendar was approved, and the minutes were approved as amended. Future Meetings for spring: April 16 April 30 May 14 June 4 June 18 Carolyn Holcroft-Burns announced the spring election results. All three issues were passed by a large margin, and part-time participation increased significantly. For spring 2007 we need to have on election by late May for the part-time senate seat. We'll need a part-time faculty to run for the position, as well as work to have part-time faculty vote in the election. Email lists to reach part-time faculty remain problematic, and the senate really needs an organized list of P/T email addresses. Division senators need to appeal for P/T participants as the best way to get a candidate. Dolores Davison is working on a rewording of the constitution. Karen Gillette suggested changes to the minutes to reflect terminology 'faculty-staff' to be an inclusive function (faculty and staff). The resolution was "first read". Paul Starer commented that Penny Patz had invited him to join with David Garrido to meet with architects to discuss space for a faculty-staff development center. Paul also mentioned the consultation with faculty in planning space (design) on campus. Dolores talked about LDTP (Lower Division Transfer Pattern). When students complete 45 units (in a desirable major) they are allowed to transfer into a CSU in that major. In the latest round of class submissions, CSUs rejected over 50% of recent CCC course submissions. CCCs have petitioned the CSUs to discuss/describe why courses weren't approved. The statewide academic senate will present a serious letter to the CSUs regarding the difficult process for CCCs to establish course articulation with CSU. The CCCs are engaged in a movement that is contrary to the CCC student LDTP. If this continues for an extended period, our students could suffer. CSUs have also been limiting courses from the community colleges that can transfer into a CSU major. Resolutions at the statewide academic senate (this coming weekend) will address these concerns. The CSU faculty are somewhat embarrassed by this, and have sent a letter to Ian Walton, president of statewide academic senate, to express their desire to work cooperatively with community colleges. "Carolyn Holcroft discussed the food service selection committee. A number of vendor proposals have recently been received and the committee will be meeting next week to review the proposals and select vendors for on-site interviews at 17Թ. The committee's goal is to have a recommendation for the Board by the middle of May." Carolyn also assured the senate that the selection process was aware of the correlation between food selection and desirability for students. Senators talked about the various concerns and issues they had with current and previous food vendors. Senators can report the progress of the selection process to their faculty. Rich Morasci discussed the Heights becoming the sole schedule of courses published to the community. There was a concern among faculty that or downward enrollment trends were related to students inability to find out what was offered. Discussion about the relevance of a paper catalog focused on the accuracy / inaccuracy of the catalog. Some felt that even though instructors changed, the courses stayed the same, so its not a large error. Even though the website is more accurate, older students may prefer having paper catalogs. One senator offered to help build a list of concerns that could be brought to Rich Morasci. Senators could help by forming a course schedule committee. Disciplines list. Paul has only heard from one faculty member. Paul listed some of the new disciplines. These proposed changes include: MFA Creative Writing Art History Global International Studies Yoga Commercial Dance Health (add MS public health) Meeting was adjourned at 3:53 p.m. &'(7:!
