Warren Hurd needs faculty for administrative evaluations. The campus abroad program needs a faculty member. A resolution recognizing Karen Webbs contributions to 17Թ was passed unanimously, and will be read to her at a retirement party on October 29th, with a permanent plaque to be presented later. A motion to approve the minutes of October 11th was approved unanimously. The consent calendar was approved unanimously. Senators are encouraged announce in their division that the new schedule for finals has changed. The schedule was published in the summer fall schedule. Faculty members are needed for serving on the scheduling committee for exams and block scheduling. Please contact Alan Harvey for more information. David Sauter presented a resolution to pay senators $25 per quarter for their service, for the academic year 2004 2005. The motion passed with a vote of 9 yes and 3 no. Resolutions to authorize Paul Starer and Dolores Davison to vote to raise the English and math requirements at the State academic senate were presented separately. Feedback from divisions was split, with some divisions supporting both math and English requirements, and other divisions supporting English only. There was sentiment that local control over standards is important, and concern that there could be an issue where 17Թ might not be in agreement with the State academic senate on certain issues. The vote for resolutions to authorize Paul and Dolores to support raising the math and English requirements is shown below: English 8 yes 2 no with 2 abstaining Math 7 yes 3 no with 2 abstaining The senate discussed the possibility of bringing Math 103 or equivalent back into the active curriculum.
