Textbooks, of course, will help students improve their reading/writing/listening/speaking skills, and continuing our loaner program is a great advantage to these students as many are low-income. Success is measured by students moving through the NCEL sequence and then possibly into credit classes or certificate programs at 17Թ.  Please indicate the criteria used to select the students and/or faculty/staff participating in this activity. FORMTEXT All NCEL students as well as all NCEL staff will benefit from these funds and the purchase of new texts.  What outcomes are you predicting for this activity (or for those who participate) and what metric(s) will be used to evaluate if the activity is supporting increased outcomes for those students on the indicators (as described above)? FORMTEXT The outcome will be increased English skills as well as movement through the NCEL sequence. The number of students matriculating through the program can be used as a means of evaluating student outcomes. Enrollment can be potentially more stable when students do not have to worry about affording textbooks required for a free course.  Please cite any research or evidence relevant to your proposal. FORMTEXT The texts are usually paid for with Language Arts funds but the NCEL program has outgrown the existing inventory. Some texts also need to be replaced, but all texts are used in this loaner program over the course of several years.
